Just north up Maple Street is the Waldport Visitors Center, we suggest making them a first stop in planning you outings, as well as providing a historical background of the area, they too have many flyers of things to do and can provide any key information you may need during your stay.
Waldport has a unique thing going on and that is free bicycle rentals called "Green Bikes" These are community bicycles are free for anyone to use (and yes of course they are green), within the Waldport area. If the yellow rope tie is on, the bike is in use; if it isn’t, it’s free for use. All are supplied with a helmet, recommended for all riders. To learn more, call 541-563-7323. Or simply pay them a visit as they are located just across hwy 101 and about two blocks away. Now ride safely!
If you are more of the adventurer type you may want to hit some of the areas hiking trails around the area, visit Cape Perpetua or head to Old Town Newport and take a day fishing trip on the ocean. If you are looking for a more close to home outing on the water the docks in Waldport offer boats for rental and packages that include crap pots for crabbing on the bay. The bay itself also offers many types of clams to dig or rake and contains shrimp as well. The Red Door does have pots for use and a license is required (purchased at the crab shack at the docks), however please note that cooking crab is not allowed in the home as it manages to linger for days.
You are lucky to also be within an easy drive to There are three of Oregon's famed lighthouses within 20 miles that are great for that special photo opportunity, besides who doesn't love lighthouses? The are also has many other welcoming places to visit like the Waldport Library, glass blowing, craft shops, music shops, great eateries and some flea market style shops. Waldport really does have something for everyone. Yachats (pronounced ya-hots) is just down the coast 8 miles and is a treat to visit as well with even more one-of-a-kind shops and great easy walking trails along the ocean. They also have a Visitor's Center and are sure to guide you to something exciting.
